About Fundraising and Community Projects

Junior Board of Rock Island is entering its 82nd year of helping children and families in the Quad Cities area. Founded in 1935 with the mission of working together to serve children in our community, our primary focus began by supporting the Visiting Nurse & Homecare Association, by volunteering service hours for their child- related causes. Our organization has since expanded into a 100% volunteer organization, which supports more than 40 organizations in the Quad Cities, with more than $1.7 million in donations to their child-related programs.

Our sincere thanks go out to all who have helped Junior Board of Rock Island make a difference in the quality of life for countless children, year after year, through organizational programs that better the health and lives of young people in the Quad Cities, in the areas of literacy, education and community safety.

Our main recipients are the Project Nest, Nest Newborn and UnityPoint at Home where we provide both financial and volunteer support.

Mardi Gras Charity Ball and Silent Auction: Saturday, February 10, 2018

The 79th Annual Mardi Gras Charity Ball is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf. The theme will be Vintage Hollywood Nights and is chaired by Sarah Liddell and Shellee Showalter.

This event has an average attendance of more than 500 community members and once again, we will be holding a Silent Auction as one of our primary sources of fundraising. This allows us to fill even more of the ever increasing requests we receive from organizations each year.

Without the continued generosity of community-minded individuals and businesses like yours, we cannot succeed!  All funds raised are directly donated back to our Quad Cities community!

Fall Social: Icons on October 12, 2017

Thanks to all for your support of our local business and our JBRI Nest Egg scholarship at the fall social fundraiser at Icons on October 12th.  We enjoyed drink samples donated by Icons, Daiquiri Factory & Smoking Dog along with a nacho bar that included salsa samples from Lobo’s Salsa!

Fall Local Shopping Trip: Saturday, November 11, 2017

Thanks for an amazing day of shopping, eating, & enjoying our local community! Really appreciate the attendees’ donation, support to our local businesses, and a special shout out to WaterMark, Moline, IL, Flutter, LeClaire, IA, and Katsch, Geneseo, IL for donating back to JBRI Nest Egg!

Community Projects: 2017 -2018
Within our community, the Junior Board of Rock Island members and families are helping to make a difference and bring awareness with these 2017-2018 special community projects:  First Day Fund, GiGi’s Playhouse 5K Run, Santa’s Special Stars, and QC Closet2Closet.

Mardi Gras Tickets Online
Our Mardi Gras Tickets can be purchased online.  Each table seats 8 people.  Tickets are $95 (with a $55 deductible donation). There is a $3 per ticket convenience fee to pay via PayPal. Meat and vegetarian option are both available.
